International Auto Center Body Shop removes dents in Santa Clara at 1499 Lincoln St. Small door dings and larger crash dents get a free estimate, and we tell you whether the panel can be repaired or must be replaced before you spend anything.
Where Santa Clara dents come from
Most dents we see do not come from crashes. They come from places drivers visit every week. Westfield Valley Fair has some of the busiest parking lots on the Peninsula, and a stray shopping cart or a neighboring door will leave a dent in seconds. Street parking in the Old Quad near Santa Clara University adds close-quarters door dings and the occasional hit-and-run. Game days at Levi's Stadium bring the same problem on a larger scale.
If you cannot trace the dent to a moment, that is normal. Plenty of owners find one at the end of a shopping trip.
Can your dent be repaired or does the panel need replacing?
A dent can usually be repaired when the metal has not stretched sharply or creased across a body line. Shallow, rounded dents respond best. Sharp creases, dents on a panel edge, and areas with several overlapping hits are harder, and sometimes a replacement panel is the better value. Aluminum panels behave differently from steel, and we account for that.
At the estimate we show you the dent from the angle that reveals its depth and explain the call. If a repair would cost nearly as much as a replacement, we say so.
What the repair involves
We work the metal back toward its original shape, check the surface for high and low spots, and refinish the area when the paint has been disturbed. If the paint is intact and the shape comes back cleanly, less refinishing is needed. If it is scratched or cracked, the repair includes priming, color matching and clear coat, then blending into the panel.
Sometimes a dent is the visible part of a small misalignment, such as a door that rubs. A free estimate checks for that before you pay for the wrong repair.
Dent or claim: which makes sense
Small dents often cost less than a typical deductible, so many owners pay directly and keep their claims history clean. Larger dents on newer cars may be worth a claim. Get the estimate first. It costs nothing and gives you a number to compare with your deductible before you call your insurer.
Hail dents are a separate job
Dozens of small dents across a roof or hood are a different repair from one door ding. If you have hail damage, see our hail damage repair page for how multi-dent jobs are assessed.
